Wellbeing Coaching and/or Therapy

Feeling overwhelmed?

Well, choosing the right support for your mental and emotional wellbeing can itself be overwhelming!! You might need both therapy and coaching, or one and then the other, or just one. So many choices…

Here’s a quick look at what these approaches offer from my experience and perspective. I hope this helps.

Therapy

  • Takes a deep dive into your past: What happened? Who did what? What’s the resulting effect on you?

  • Can take the line “There’s something wrong with me” that needs to be fixed

  • Seeks an explanation so you can really understand what happened, apply the fix and move on

  • Wants you to be happy and feel good about yourself once the demons from the past have been released

  • Has a therapist who generally does not say much about themselves

Wellbeing Coaching

  • Is curious about your past and the stories you carry from the past

  • Acknowledges that “Sometimes I get things wrong” because your experience means you are especially vulnerable in some situations

  • Brings into the light what you are carrying so you can learn from that experience and make fresh decisions

  • Wants you to live as full a life as possible despite the tricky stuff

  • Has a coach who generally will share relevant information about themselves

My wellbeing coaching approach adds

  • The principles of mindfulness and compassion

  • The opportunity to introduce kindness and have a new relationship with, well, everything and everyone

  • A toolbox of practices to use meditatively and in day-to-day life

  • The opportunity to change the way you tell your story; an example might be to change a story in which you are victim into a story about how you have survived and thrived, along with the self-belief in yourself as an empowered person
