Honouring Nature
Here’s my latest Substack recording.
I haven't been out much in the really hot weather, just a bit, but tonight or this evening it's cooler. I've even got a jumper on! I've taken a walk up to the wood here. It's so lovely to be here. And this wood where I love to come near me has avoided (touch wood!) any of the fires and seems to be doing okay. I hope it's got enough water, just as I hope we human beings here will be getting enough water over the next little while. We'll see won't we?
So I just wanted to take a moment to rejoice in being here again, and to rejoice in being back to more, shall we say, traditional English temperatures, something more in line with what we expect from English temperatures, English summers and autumns.
That said, the longer term forecast is not especially good, is it? We've all had repeats (of high temperatures) last summer, maybe worse, and maybe winter will be even wetter, so it’ll be too hot or too wet or something.
And so for now I'm taking a moment, and inviting you to take a moment, to rejoice with and in the nature we are part of. We human beings are as much part of nature as any other animal, shrub or fungus, and we forget that. We think we're somehow better than that, above all that. And that's not done us any favours.
So we at least can honour nature, and thank nature, and be grateful to nature for being with us all this time, and taking care of us as best as she does. It does seem to me that we are doing all the taking and not much giving, unlike other animals. But hey, let's not get into all that now.
I want to leave you with this heartfelt thought, heartfelt image, that we are part of nature. And let's rejoice with nature as this summer turns towards autumn. I don't know, though now I've said that there's probably going to be another burst of summer over the next little while!! We'll see.
So honouring nature, honouring our part in nature. Take care everyone.
